<p>PVCC’s art gallery kicks off the 2010-11 arts  season with two new exhibits. Half Life features works by local  photographer Will May and Serial Thrillers features works by Randy Bill,  Reba Peck and Sharon Shapiro. A reception with the artists will be  Friday, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the PVCC gallery in the Dickinson  building. The reception is free and open to the public.</p>

<p>On Saturday, September 11, Poplar Forest will  introduce the Poplar Forest Chestnut Rose. Visitors will enjoy a lecture  from a panel of experts about rose cultivation, Jefferson&#8217;s use of  roses in landscape design and landscape restoration at Poplar Forest.  Speakers include Jane Baber White, Don Davis, and Jack Gary, Director of  Archaeology and Landscapes. Tickets are $20.00. Admission includes access to the lecture, a guided  landscape tour, light refreshments and a chestnut rose. Reservations are  highly recommended. Please call the Museum Shop at (434) 534-8120 to  reserve your space. The chesnut rose plants are propagated by Michael Kayes of Blue Ridge  Boxwood, LLC, from the antique roses growing in the center of the  boxwood turnaround in front of the house at Poplar Forest.</p>

<p>Join us for a night of spooky fun as kids  enjoy trick or treating in our child-sized village! Thanks to our  supporters, Halloween is safe, fun, and FREE for kids at the Children’s  Museum of Richmond’s 10th annual Halloween Hoopla. Children can have an  authentic Halloween experience trick-or- treating in our kid-size  neighborhood consisting of six Fan-District-style houses complete with  spooky decorations. Other activities will include Halloween art  projects, pumpkin painting, and games. Adult admission tickets can be  purchased at the Children’s Museum for $4 each.</p>
